DISEASES OF THE EYE

RD or retinal dysplasia (formation of retinal folds or rosettes in a milder form, retinal degeneration or detachment from the fundus in more severe cases).

Cataract e. gray eye means clouding of the lens of the eye. The lens is located in the eye behind the iris and pupil. Kae causes cloudiness in the lens area. The extent of haziness varies from individual to individual. The blurring may be so mild that it does not affect the dog's vision. Cloudiness can also be so extensive that the dog can become blind. Cloudiness can increase as the dog ages and in this case affect the dog's vision. Many old dogs develop cataracts in old age, which is not hereditary. Hereditary posterior polar cataract is a form of genetic cataract or HC. The posterior polar form of cataract develops rapidly. Hereditary cataracts are rarely painful. Going dark happens slowly. A visually impaired or blind dog can live in domestic conditions for a long time, and this disease does not shorten its life.

PPM (Persistent Pupillary Membrane) is a condition in which the vascular network covering the pupil during the fetal period does not recede during the neonatal period, but remains intact. In the eye, PPM can be seen as bands of iris color that are attached to the iris at one end, the other end can be attached either to the iris over the pupil, to the inner surface of the cornea, or to the lens. When attached to the inner surface of the lens or cornea, PPM creates an opaque area that can significantly impair vision.

PHTVL/PHPV (the primary vitreous and vascular network surrounding the lens does not recede during fetal lens formation). PHTVL/PHPV varies in severity, rarely seen in Welsh corgi cardigans.

OTHER DISEASES
