Registration of litters in the Estonian Kennel Union is based on the litter's compliance with the EKL pedigree regulation and FCI breeding requirements. For use in dog breeding, the date of mating is taken into account.
Valid breeding requirements: 01.01.2024-31.12.2028
HEALTH (MEASURES TO FIGHT HEREDITARY DEFECTS):
a study of hereditary eye diseases - with the result "no findings" can be used without restrictions, two dogs with the same eye disease findings must not be used together. At the time of mating, the eye test result must not be older than 36 months. The validity period does not apply to an eye examination performed on a dog over 5 years old.
EXHIBITION PRICES (MINIMUM OUTSIDE PRICES):
three show grades "excellent" from an FCI recognized show, one of which must be obtained from an international show or a breed-specific show.
OTHERS (ALL OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS ARISING FROM THE DEVELOPMENT RULES):
Age - a male dog can be used in breeding from the age of 10 months. A female dog can be at least 18 months old at the time of mating, the upper limit is up to 9 years. Other - all litters, whose parents do not meet the requirements stated in the breeding regulations, will be entered in the MA register (non-breeding register) based on the Breed Association's application.
All requirements must be met before pairing.
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE BREED SOCIETY
- Perform heart examination (ausculation / ultrasound) of breeding dogs- GGenetic testing to determine risk status for more common conditions (Von Willebrand disease I (vWD1); DM (degenerative myelopathy)
- Hip dysplasia (HD) study
- Elbow dysplasia (ED) study
- Do not use a female dog in breeding after a second caesarean section.
- Color - Do not use in breeding dogs with color: d locus (dd) or blue diluted
- Hair length - do not use a fluffy dog in breeding
